Nigeria's weather watchdog warned Sunday of thunderstorms and moderate downpours blanketing much of the country from Monday through Wednesday, with flash flood risks looming in three states, urging residents to brace for disruptions to daily life and travel.

The Nigerian Meteorological Agency's three-day outlook, issued from its Abuja hub, sketches a sodden start to the week: northern states like Sokoto, Zamfara, and Kaduna face morning rumbles giving way to isolated storms by afternoon, while central spots including the FCT and Benue eye light morning drizzles escalating to heavier evening hits.

Southern climes, from Oyo to Rivers, should see patchy clouds yielding to widespread moderate rains later each day, per the bulletin. Tuesday and Wednesday echo the pattern, with sunny northern patches clouding over Taraba and Adamawa, central belts holding steady on showers in Niger and Plateau, and southern expanses like Delta and Akwa Ibom locking in thunderstorms by evening.

NiMet zeroed in on Benue, Taraba, and Cross River for potential flooding, advising swift emergency drills: "Secure loose items, unplug gadgets, shun flood zones, and skip farm chemicals pre-rain."

Airlines got a nudge too—grab site-specific forecasts for safe skies—amid broader calls to dodge tall trees, flooded drives, and storm-tossed branches. The alert lands as the rainy season wanes, yet lingers enough to snag routines in a nation still mending from prior deluges.
