Kim Kardashian has offered a candid glimpse into the complexities of co-parenting with ex-husband Kanye West, revealing that she hasn’t had contact with the rapper in months and describing the experience as “a lot of work.”
Speaking on the Call Her Daddy podcast released Wednesday, Kardashian reflected on raising their four children—North (12), Saint (9), Chicago (7), and Psalm (6)—largely on her own. While she emphasized her commitment to fostering a “great, healthy relationship” between the kids and their father, she acknowledged the unpredictable nature of their dynamic. “It goes in waves and phases,” she said. “It’s probably been a couple of months since we’ve heard from him.”
Her comments come amid renewed scrutiny of West’s involvement in their children’s lives. In May, he publicly criticized Kardashian on X (formerly Twitter), accusing her of leaving North unattended at the 2025 Met Gala and expressing frustration over his limited access. “I’m shaking typing this… I don’t get to be a dad,” he wrote, referencing unresolved emotional wounds from his own upbringing.
Sources close to West say he has sought more time with his children but faces logistical challenges stemming from the couple’s 2022 divorce settlement. The pair’s relationship, which began in 2012 and culminated in marriage in 2014, unraveled in 2021 after years of public highs and private tensions. Their split followed intense custody negotiations, with Kardashian ultimately receiving primary custody.
Throughout the podcast, Kardashian avoided airing fresh grievances, instead focusing on her full-time parenting role and efforts to shield her children from volatility. “I raise the kids full-time,” she said, underscoring her hands-on approach while remaining open to West’s involvement when constructive.
West has not publicly responded to the podcast, though allies cite his ongoing focus on music, fashion ventures like Yeezy, and therapy for bipolar disorder. Kardashian, meanwhile, continues to balance her SKIMS business empire with motherhood, navigating the spotlight with a protective stance toward her children.
As their children enter adolescence, the former couple’s co-parenting arrangement remains fluid—anchored by Kardashian’s consistency and West’s intermittent presence. The path forward, she suggested, depends on mutual respect and the hope for more frequent, meaningful engagement.
