Arsenal secured a gritty 1–0 win over Crystal Palace at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday, with Eberechi Eze’s second-half header proving decisive as the Gunners stretched their unbeaten run to 10 matches and opened a four-point lead atop the Premier League table.
Eze, facing his former club, rose to meet William Saliba’s corner in the 68th minute, guiding the ball past Palace goalkeeper Dean Henderson. The goal marked Arsenal’s seventh consecutive victory across all competitions and their fifth straight clean sheet, lifting them to 22 points after nine games.
The result was further sweetened by slip-ups from title rivals: Manchester City fell 1–0 at Aston Villa, while Liverpool lost 3–2 at Brentford, giving Arsenal breathing room in a tightly packed top five.
Manager Mikel Arteta praised his side’s resilience, calling it his “most valued” win of the season. “We knew the difficulty after playing every three days,” Arteta said. “Now the crowd is playing with us. It makes such a difference.”
Palace, who sit ninth with 12 points, started brightly with Jean-Philippe Mateta’s header grazing the crossbar early on. They managed 12 attempts but only four on target, and a Mateta goal was ruled out for offside. Manager Oliver Glasner lamented missed opportunities: “We competed well but lacked that edge in the box. Arsenal are clinical—credit to them.”
Eze, reflecting on scoring against his former team, called the moment “bittersweet,” but emphasized the importance of the win.
Arsenal’s defensive solidity continues to underpin their title charge, with Saliba and Gabriel leading a backline that has conceded just four goals in the league. Palace, winless in five, will host Fulham next, while Arsenal travel to Everton on November 2, aiming to maintain momentum in a wide-open title race.
