Atalanta BC has parted ways with head coach Ivan Juric following a crushing 3–0 home defeat to Sassuolo, ending a disappointing three-month tenure marked by just two Serie A wins and a seven-game winless streak.

The club, currently 13th in the league, swiftly named former youth product Raffaele Palladino as his successor on a contract running through June 2027.

Juric, who took over in August after Atalanta’s Europa League triumph under Gian Piero Gasperini, struggled to replicate success. His side was outclassed at Gewiss Stadium on Saturday, conceding goals to Armand Lauriente, Kristian Thorstvedt, and Luca Moro. The loss left the Nerazzurri seven points adrift of Champions League qualification and at their lowest league standing since the 2014–15 season.

“Atalanta demands excellence, and recent results do not align with our ambitions,” the club said in a statement. “We thank Ivan for his commitment but believe a change is necessary now.”

Palladino, 41, returns to familiar ground, having risen through Atalanta’s academy before a playing career that included captaining Como to Serie B. He recently led Monza to Serie A promotion with a tactical masterclass in the playoffs and is now tasked with reigniting Atalanta’s campaign ahead of a challenging fixture against Napoli on Sunday.

“Returning home to Atalanta is a dream,” Palladino said. “I’ll instill passion and resilience to reclaim our place among the elite.”

His appointment signals a shift toward identity-driven leadership, blending tactical acumen with deep-rooted club culture. With the Europa League title still fresh in memory, Palladino’s debut could mark a turning point in a season teetering between transition and resurgence.
