Nigeria’s Super Eagles stormed into the Africa Cup of Nations semi-finals with a commanding 2-0 victory over Algeria at the Grand Stadium in Marrakesh, setting up a blockbuster clash with hosts Morocco.
Victor Osimhen broke the deadlock in the 47th minute with a precise header from Bruno Onyemaechi’s long cross, capitalizing on goalkeeper Luca Zidane’s misjudged leap. Just ten minutes later, Akor Jerome Adams doubled the lead with a clinical finish after a swift counter-attack.
Algeria struggled to find rhythm, registering only two shots (none on target), while Nigeria dominated with 12 attempts and five on target. The Super Eagles’ defense and midfield held firm, securing a clean sheet despite late Algerian pressure.
Coach Eric Chelle praised his side’s performance: “We controlled the game and showed character. This is the level we need.”
